Security Heightened in Zamfara Amid Bandit Threats

In response to renewed bandit threats in Zamfara State, particularly in the Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, a significant security presence has been established. This development follows reports of bandit activities, including the abduction of seven students from the Federal Polytechnic in Kaura Namoda during a late-night attack.

The evacuation of families, including that of former lawmaker Tijjani Od, was carried out with a heavy security escort comprising a combined convoy of four Nigerian Army Hilux vehicles, two Nigeria Police Force Hilux vehicles, and a vehicle from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The situation has heightened concerns among residents, particularly as it is linked to notorious bandit leader Kachalla Bello's gang, which has been implicated in previous abductions.

The ongoing insecurity has left ordinary citizens vulnerable, with fears of coordinated attacks by armed groups. Despite the evacuation efforts, no official statement has been issued by security agencies regarding the situation.
