Wrexham Owners Reynolds and McElhenney Aim for Premier League

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the Hollywood owners of Wrexham AFC, have reiterated their ambition for the club to win the Championship title and achieve promotion to the Premier League. Wrexham will start their 2026/27 Championship campaign with a match against Cardiff on Monday.

Last season, they finished seventh and narrowly missed out on a playoff spot, ending the regular season in sixth place before a 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough allowed Hull City to overtake them. Reynolds expressed “obscene pride” in Wrexham’s league finish, while McElhenney emphasized their desire to win the Championship and become the best in football.

The duo celebrated their fifth anniversary as owners in February, and their involvement has gained global attention through the “Welcome to Wrexham” documentary series. Reynolds recalled the skepticism surrounding their Premier League ambitions during his first press conference in 2021, noting how Wrexham's rise has attracted interest from people as far away as Texas.
