Digital Actor Tilly Norwood Sparks Outrage in Hollywood

Particle6 Productions, led by writer and comedian Eline Van der Velden, announced that a digital character named Tilly Norwood will star in their upcoming feature-length comedy-drama titled "Misaligned." This decision has incited significant backlash from the creative community, particularly from SAG-AFTRA, the labor union representing over 160,000 media professionals and actors. The union condemned the studio's approach, arguing that using a digital creation undermines the value of genuine human artistry and threatens the livelihoods of real actors.

SAG-AFTRA's statement emphasized that acting involves personal experiences and emotions that cannot be replicated by a computer program. The studio claims the film is a hybrid production, involving collaboration between traditional entertainment professionals and software engineers.

Despite the controversy, Particle6 Productions is moving forward with production and recruiting crew members to transition their skills into the digital realm, although major unions are threatening to oppose the project.
