Lawmaker Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere Defects from PDP to APP in Imo State

Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, a lawmaker representing Ideato Federal Constituency in Imo State House of Representatives, officially defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the Action People's Party (APP).

His move is seen as a blow to the PDP, especially in Imo State, amidst internal leadership struggles. The defection comes after a controversial attempt by PDP officials at the ward and local government levels in Imo State to expel Ugochinyere for alleged anti-party activities, which was later nullified by the PDP's National Working Committee (NWC).

Debo Ologunagba, the PDP's National Public Secretary, clarified that due process must be followed before disciplining or expelling a member of the National Assembly.
