Nigeria's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Attends ECOWAS Summit

Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiy, the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, departed for Freetown, Sierra Leone, to participate in the ECOWAS Mid-Year Summit. The summit, taking place from July 15 to July 17, 2026, aims to bring together heads of state, government ministers, and senior officials from the region to review and implement ECOWAS programs designed to advance regional integration, economic cooperation, peace, security, and sustainable development across West Africa.

During the summit, the Honourable Minister will lead the Nigerian delegation at the 56th session of the Media Security Council at the ministerial level on July 15, followed by the 96th ordinary session of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers on July 16-17. The discussions will focus on strengthening regional cooperation and enhancing collective responses to emerging political, security, and economic challenges, reaffirming Nigeria's commitment to the ideals and objectives of ECOWAS.
