House of Reps: No Need for Tinubu on Budget Issues

Hon. Philip Agbes, the Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, asserted that the House does not require the presence of President Bola Tinubu to address issues concerning the implementation of the national budget.

Agbes made this statement during a session with journalists on Thursday, following a tumultuous session on Wednesday where a motion was raised by Abia lawmaker Hon. Mascot Ikwechegh to summon the President to explain the poor implementation of the national budget, particularly regarding constituency projects.

The motion led to a divided response among lawmakers, with some supporting it while others protested against Speaker Rt. Hon.

Tajudeen Abba. Agbes emphasized that budget implementation falls under the responsibilities of relevant ministers and the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, who should directly answer questions regarding budget stewardship.

He praised Speaker Abba for demonstrating mature leadership during the session and reiterated the House's commitment to ensuring prudent management of public resources.
