House Probes Alleged N1.3 Billion PFIPC Funding

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives resolved to investigate the existence and funding of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Allegations have surfaced that the council was allocated N1.3 billion in the 2026 budget, raising concerns about its legitimacy and the integrity of the country's budgetary process.

Representative Yusuf Gagdi warned that this incident exposes serious weaknesses in Nigeria's appropriation system, highlighting the risk of fictitious agencies slipping through previous budgets unnoticed. The House has mandated relevant committees to invite the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning and the Director General of the Budget Office of the Federation to explain and verify the procedures applied to this new entity.
