House Probes Alleged Fake PFIPC Inclusion in Budget

On Monday, the House of Representatives, chaired by Hon. Yusuf Gagdi of the APC from Plateau State, commenced an investigation into the controversial inclusion of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) in the 2026 budget. This inquiry follows a resolution passed by the House, which mandates an ad hoc committee to invite the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning and the Director-General of the Budget Office to clarify the procedures for admitting new entities into the budget.

The investigation is set to report back within four weeks and will not interfere with ongoing criminal proceedings in the Federal High Court regarding the matter. The budget for 2026, presented by President Bola Tinubu, includes a total expenditure of ₦1,302,978,784, with concerns raised about the legitimacy of the PFIPC's inclusion, which lacks proper legal establishment.

The House is focused on safeguarding the integrity of the federal budget process amid allegations of excess budgetary provisions linked to the PFIPC.
