Housing Minister Urges Support for National Homeownership Drive in Nigeria

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahm Dangiwa, has urged state governments, housing institutions, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to support the national homeownership drive. A campaign is set to begin on March 4-5, 2026, in Katsina State.

Dangiwa emphasized the need for a unified approach to housing development, working closely with state governments to ensure effective implementation of federal housing programs. The initiative aims to enhance homeownership sustainability nationwide, aligning with the ministry's new unified housing delivery framework.

Muham Baba Adamu disclosed plans for a practical framework to strengthen collaboration between federal and state housing institutions. The campaign seeks to address Nigeria's significant housing deficit of 15.2 million units, focusing on reforms, public-private partnerships, and housing finance restructuring.
