Nigerian Housing Ministry and ICPC Collaborate to Track Constituency Projects Nationwide

The Nigerian Housing Ministry and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have initiated a collaborative effort to track constituency and zonal intervention projects across the country. This joint verification exercise, in line with the ministry's goal of ensuring projects are delivered according to approved specifications with transparency and accountability, involves the supervision of project execution by a special unit within the ministry and ICPC.

The exercise includes simultaneous verification by state project implementation teams to assess project status and quality. Dr.

Shuaib Belgore, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, highlighted the focus on ensuring Nigerians derive intended socio-economic benefits from these projects. The ICPC's involvement aims to evaluate project impact, enforce compliance, and prevent corrupt practices in public projects.

Bello Idris Bakori, the head of the ICPC's constituency project tracking, emphasized the exercise's role in promoting transparency and ensuring funds allocated to projects translate into tangible development outcomes. The initiative also serves to hold contractors accountable and correct any deficiencies identified during the verification process.
