INEC Confirms Real-Time Result Transmission for FCT Elections

On Tuesday, during an interview in Abuja, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, assured that the results of the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) elections will be transmitted in real-time from polling units using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

The elections are scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026. Amupitan expressed confidence in the preparedness of the electoral officers in the three area councils: Kuje (99.9% readiness), Gwagwalada (90.8% readiness), and Bwari (100% readiness).

He emphasized that there would be no excuses for electoral malfeasance and that INEC is committed to delivering credible elections. The commission has ensured that all necessary materials are secured and ready for deployment.

Accompanying Amupitan were high-ranking INEC officials, including the FCT Resident Electoral Commissioner, Aminu Idri, and the Acting Director of Electoral Institute, Mallam Tukur Yusuf.
