Terrorists Kill 30, Displace 707 in Kwara Attack

On February 3, 2026, a terrorist attack in Woro, Kwara, resulted in the deaths of 30 council indigenes, as confirmed by Gwong Song, the Deputy Chairman of Riyom Local Government. During an interaction with journalists on Tuesday, Song reported that the attack displaced approximately 500 individuals from the Ganawuri community, which is primarily engaged in farming and commercial activities.

He lamented the devastating impact of the violence on the victims, highlighting the emotional pain of losing loved ones. As of now, the number of displaced persons has risen to 707, with efforts being made for some to return home; 200 indigenes have managed to return.

The council chairman has allocated N3 million for vehicles to assist in this process. Song also noted that four community members were injured in the attack and are receiving treatment, while 10 others remain in captivity.
