DSS Reveals Bandits Negotiator's Lavish Spending on Luxury Cars and Trips

The Department of State Services (DSS) disclosed in a Federal High Court in Abuja how a ransom negotiator, Mamu, used funds from illegal negotiations with bandits to buy luxury vehicles and travel overseas. Mamu was implicated in the 2022 Abuja-Kaduna train attack and accused of negotiating with terrorist ransom takers.

The court heard testimonies of Mamu's extravagant lifestyle changes post-negotiations, including acquiring multiple cars and traveling abroad. Mamu's involvement in terrorist activities was further evidenced by audio recordings found on his devices.

Mamu's defense argued that his travels were for religious purposes, but the prosecution linked him to terrorist kingpins.
