Police Commissioner Warns of Rising Cultism in Lagos

On Thursday, Tijani Fatai, the Police Commissioner of the Lagos State Police Command, expressed deep concern regarding the increasing wave of cultism and gang violence in Lagos, especially within the Agege area. During a security meeting organized by the Orile Agege Local Government Council, which includes representatives from Ifako Ijaiye and Agege, Fatai described the situation as troubling, noting that residents once felt safe but now face significant criminal threats.

He lamented the frequent killings linked to gang activities and urged community members to take ownership of their security by collaborating with law enforcement agencies. Fatai highlighted that police efforts depend heavily on community intelligence and support.

He referenced successful initiatives in Mushin, where community collaboration significantly reduced cult-related violence, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts involving community leaders and youth to achieve a safer society.
