Lagos CP Tijani Fatai Targets Cultism and Violent Crime

Tijani Fatai was inaugurated as the 42nd Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Police Command on Thursday. In his inaugural address, he declared a commitment to intensifying efforts against cultism and violent crime, aiming to enhance security throughout Lagos State.

Fatai outlined a proactive, intelligence-driven strategy to confront emerging security challenges, emphasizing that criminal elements will no longer find refuge in the state. His operational focus will include reducing crime to its barest minimum, tackling cultism and violent crime, strengthening police visibility, and restoring peace.

He acknowledged the unique security pressures associated with Lagos, which is Nigeria's commercial nerve center. Fatai stressed the importance of community policing and collaboration with residents to build trust and cooperation.

He also highlighted youth engagement as a key component in crime prevention. Furthermore, he warned police officers against misconduct and emphasized the need for discipline, respect for human rights, and a zero-tolerance policy for police brutality.
