David Odumbaku's Innovative Approach to Governance

David Odumbaku serves as the Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and is redefining grassroots governance through a participatory approach. He regularly convenes meetings with community stakeholders, including property owners, youth leaders, and artisans, to discuss and adjust the council's annual budget.

Odumbaku, who will turn 50 in February 2026, is not a traditional politician but a trained systems analyst with an MSc in Computer Information Systems from Dublin Business School and additional certification from Harvard Pan Atlantic University. His administration's flagship programs target health, education, youth and women empowerment, and social infrastructure.

Notable initiatives include facilitating 600 free medical surgeries, constructing primary healthcare facilities, and providing zero-interest microcredit to local market women and artisans. Odumbaku also invests in digital inclusion by establishing a local ICT hub and launching a youth digital skills program, emphasizing the importance of civic engagement and technology literacy.

His governance style has earned him recognition, including the GovTech Award for best-performing local government chairman.
