Disgruntled Colonel's Secret Military Network Foils Coup Plot Against President Tinubu

In a recent development, a disgruntled colonel was revealed to have organized a failed coup plot against President Bola Tinubu, constructing a covert military network involving officers from the army, navy, and air force. The plot aimed to undermine constitutional order and security agencies.

The colonel, motivated by repeated promotion failures, allegedly recruited personnel to study sensitive installations like the presidential villa and military complexes. The group members discreetly gathered information and planned to compromise workers, including those from construction firm Julius Berger, to obtain security details.

Investigations uncovered financial inducements ranging from N2 million to N5 million, with Lt. Col. S. Bappah identified as a key figure in the network.

The plot, described as lethal in scope, targeted top officials beyond military ranks. The probe has expanded to include civilian and political contacts, with a focus on dismantling the entire network to safeguard national assets.
