Suleiman Abba Joins PDP, Aims for Senate in Jigawa

Suleiman Abba, the former Inspector General of Police, has officially joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after defecting from the All Progressives Congress (APC). His announcement was made during a gathering of party stakeholders in Bamaina, the hometown of PDP leader Alhaji Sule Lamido.

Abba expressed his ambition to become a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, motivated by a desire to serve his community following a distinguished career in public service. He noted that his previous senatorial ambition under the APC in 2019 was thwarted despite passing the party’s screening process.

Abba believes that joining the PDP offers him a fair chance to pursue his political aspirations and contribute to the development of Jigawa South-West and Jigawa State. With over three decades of experience in the Nigeria Police Force, Abba has held various significant positions, including Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

He was the 17th Indigenous Inspector-General of Police from 2014 and later served as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund.
