Suleiman Abba Joins PDP, Eyes Jigawa Senate Seat

Suleiman Abba, the former Inspector General of Police, announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during a political rally in Bamaina, his hometown. He declared his intention to contest for the Jigawa Southwest Senate seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Abba's decision was supported by Alhaji Sule Lamido, a prominent PDP chieftain and former governor of Jigawa State, who described the defection as a significant political gain for the PDP. Abba expressed his belief that the PDP offers the right platform to effectively represent the people of Jigawa Southwest in the National Assembly.

He emphasized his commitment to prioritizing security, agriculture, youth empowerment, and broader economic opportunities for the district. Alhaji Babandi Gumel, the PDP chairman in Jigawa State, noted that the party is already active at various levels to absorb Abba's support as they prepare for the 2027 elections.
