Alleged Fake Agency Scandal: Key Figures and Actions

The National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office has been identified as an alleged fake agency, with Nwabueze George serving as the "Executive Director, National Coordinator." The organization had a structure that included a director of national administration, three zonal directors, and 20 state coordinators, with claimed representatives in the United States and China. On August 21, ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu announced that President Bola Tinubu ordered the immediate arrest of George, who was described as the promoter of the alleged fake office.

Additionally, Tinubu suspended three permanent secretaries—M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare, and Richard P.

Pheelangwah—after it was discovered that the agency operated without presidential authorization. The ICPC noted that George used multiple name variations and that the agency's website listed various officials, including state coordinators across 20 Nigerian states.

The website was taken down at the time of reporting, and messages sent to the national coordinator went unanswered.
