Kwankwaso's Excessive Demands Collapse Political Deal With Tinubu and APC

The collapse of the political deal between former Kano State Governor Kwankwaso and APC leader Bola Tinubu was attributed to Kwankwaso's unrealistic demands, such as controlling 20% of APC's national structure and securing a vice presidential slot until 2031. Kwankwaso's perceived electoral value through his Red Cap Movement, Kwankwasiyya, and NNPP's performance in the 2023 general elections were key factors.

Negotiations broke down in Abuja as APC chieftains raised concerns over Kwankwaso's demands, which were seen as deal-breakers. Tinubu redirected his focus to consolidating support in Kano through engagements with Governor Abba Yusuf, yielding better results than the protracted courtship with Kwankwaso.
