LG Electronics Launches Solar Borehole in Akwa Ibom

LG Electronics Nigeria has donated a 180-foot solar-powered borehole facility in Ifa Ikot Idang, Akwa Ibom, as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at providing clean water and sustainable energy to underserved communities. The project, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year, includes a 5,000-liter overhead tank powered by dual 1,440-watt bifacial solar panels.

Mr. Paul Mba, head of corporate marketing at LG Electronics Nigeria, emphasized the company's commitment to leveraging technology to address real-life challenges related to water access and energy sustainability.

The solar power system ensures continuous water supply without reliance on the national grid. Community leaders, including Mancu Asuquo Ibanga, expressed gratitude for the project, highlighting its positive impact on daily life, particularly for women and children who previously traveled long distances for clean water.

The initiative is seen as a model for public-private-community partnerships aimed at addressing rural infrastructure gaps.
