NLIN to Transform Nigeria's Education and Employment Landscape

Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, Nigeria's Education Minister, stated that the National Learner Identification Number (NLIN) will play a crucial role in eradicating miracle centers within Nigeria's education sector.

Speaking at a stakeholders' meeting in Abuja, he emphasized that NLIN will facilitate tracking the educational progress of Nigerian children, allowing for better monitoring of their academic journeys. For instance, if a child moves from Enugu to Lagos or Kano, the NLIN will help track their educational status and prevent issues such as jumping classes.

Alausa credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership in supporting educational reforms. The initiative is part of the Nigerian Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI) aimed at creating a data-driven educational system that prepares students for employment by incorporating entrepreneurial skills into their studies.

Additionally, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, highlighted the importance of reliable educational data for improving social outcomes and empowering vulnerable groups.
