How Obasanjo Persuaded Me To Donate ₦300 Million For National Ecumenical Centre – Otedola

Billionaire businessman Femi Otedola revealed in his upcoming memoir, "Making Big," how former President Olusegun Obasanjo persuaded him to donate ₦300 million towards the completion of the National Ecumenical Centre. Otedola recounted a breakfast meeting at Obasanjo's Ota farm in late 2005 where the former president shared his vision for the abandoned interdenominational church project.

Obasanjo requested Otedola's support, suggesting a small donation to kickstart the project. Within two days, Otedola delivered a bank draft for the full amount.

Despite Otedola's preference for anonymity, Obasanjo insisted on publicizing the donation to encourage other wealthy Nigerians to contribute. The National Ecumenical Centre, envisioned as a national Christian monument, had been stalled due to lack of funds but was eventually completed in the following year.
