Chief of Staff Nwankwo Survives Assassination Attempt

Hon. Ben Nwankwo, the Chief of Staff to Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt during an ambush on his convoy by heavily armed gunmen. The attack took place on Sunday night between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM along the Amansea, Ndiukwuenu, Awa, Ufuma road in the Orumba North Local Government Area.

The ambush resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including two police officers and two civilians. Several members of Nwankwo's entourage sustained various degrees of injuries during the gun duel, which lasted several minutes.

Nwankwo was returning to Awka after representing Governor Soludo at an official function when the assailants opened fire from nearby bushes, causing panic in the surrounding community. Dr. Law Mefor, the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, released a statement on Tuesday expressing condolences to the families of the victims and assuring the public that security agencies are working to apprehend the assailants.
