Anambra Security Outfit Neutralizes Gunmen in Aguata

On June 2, 2026, gunmen attacked the convoy of Chukwuma Soludo's chief of staff, Ben Nwankwo, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including two police officers. In response, Anambra's security outfit, Agunechemba, conducted an operation in Aguata Local Government Area.

During this operation, they engaged in a gun duel with the gang, resulting in the neutralization of three gang members. The operation was supported by intelligence gathered in partnership with the Anambra State Police.

Agunechemba's spokesperson, Nweke, confirmed that the gang had previously ambushed the convoy. The operation also led to the recovery of a rocket-propelled grenade, AK-47 rifles, and other incriminating items.

Ken Emekayi, the governor's special adviser on community security, and Sylvest Ofodem, chairman of the state house assembly committee on internal security, recognized the operation as a significant triumph for the state's security forces.
