Kalgo Resigns from PDP, Cites Betrayal and Lack of Credibility

Abubakar Bawa Kalgo, the former secretary of the Kebbi State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), disclosed his resignation from the party during an interview with newsmen in Birnin Kebbi. Kalgo described his departure as a response to perceived betrayal by the PDP and its compromised role as the opposition.

He noted that the Kebbi PDP executive had initiated a boycott of a faction's convention due to a court order that restrained their participation. However, he pointed out that Nyesom Wike, a prominent member, believed the legal constraints were invalid and chose to participate in the convention.

Kalgo emphasized that the PDP's inability to provide credible opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was unacceptable. He stated that his decision to leave was not personal but rather a collective resolution from the entire state leadership of the party.
