Kebbi PDP Secretary Kalgo Resigns, Joins APC

Abubakar Bawa Kalgo, the former secretary of the Kebbi State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), publicly announced his resignation along with the entire state executive committee. In an interview in Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo described the PDP's actions as a betrayal of its opposition role and stated that the decision to leave was unanimous among the committee members.

He cited internal crises within the PDP and the party's failure to provide credible opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as key reasons for their departure. Kalgo expressed shock at Nyesom Wike's public endorsement of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the presidency, which he believed aligned with the PDP's opposition role.

The Kebbi PDP had previously initiated a boycott of a factional convention due to a court order but later participated in the convention led by Wike, which Kalgo deemed legally valid. He emphasized that the PDP's internal issues and the lack of a credible opposition prompted their decision to seek an alternative political platform.
