Kebbi PDP Executives Plan Mass Resignation Amid Crisis

Abubakar Bawa Kalgo, a member of the Kebbi State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), announced plans for mass resignation from the party's state executive committee. This decision, set to take effect on Monday in Birnin Kebbi, stems from allegations of betrayal and compromise within the party.

Kalgo emphasized that the state executive committee unanimously agreed to leave the PDP after discovering that the party had already "sold out." The internal crisis was exacerbated by a boycott of a factional convention led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, which was linked to a court order that restricted participation. Kalgo noted that the situation worsened when Nyesom Wike publicly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which shocked party members and undermined the PDP's role as a credible opposition.

The mass resignation reflects a broader crisis within the PDP as it grapples with leadership disputes and factionalism across several states, raising concerns about the party's legitimacy and future direction.
