Huawei Launches Agentic AI Cloud in Nigeria

Huawei unveiled the Agentic AI Cloud at the Huawei Nigeria AI and Cloud Summit 2026 in Lagos, marking a significant step in localizing AI computing capabilities. This launch builds on previous initiatives, including a hyperscale local cloud in 2024 and local data-cloud services in 2025.

Bai, Managing Director of Huawei Cloud Nigeria, stated that the new platform serves as foundational infrastructure for Nigeria's digital adoption, addressing challenges such as data security, computing capacity limits, latency issues, and high deployment costs. Bai emphasized the importance of AI capability, data localization, and robust trust and security in Huawei's approach.

Mr. Oladejo Olawumi, Director-General and CEO of NITDA, highlighted the need for deep-level infrastructure investments for sustainable AI adoption. He stressed the importance of attracting international technology partners to enhance domestic capacity.

Huawei Nigeria's CEO explained that enterprises can choose between building private on-premise infrastructure or utilizing local cloud services for quicker AI operations.
