Nigeria and Huawei Collaborate for Digital Economy Growth

On Wednesday, in Abuja, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to building a digital-enabled nation during a courtesy visit from Huawei Technologies Nigeria. He emphasized the alignment with the Presidential Priority Areas, including sustainable inclusive growth and improved governance.

Enikanolaiye discussed the Ministry's 4Ds Foreign Policy Initiative—Demography, Development, Democracy, and Diaspora—highlighting Nigeria's youthful population as a key asset for innovation and national development. He urged Huawei to expand operations in Nigeria to create jobs and enhance skills transfer.

Dr. Jim Zhang, leader of the Huawei delegation, expressed the company's readiness to support Nigeria in achieving a $1 trillion economy through ICT infrastructure and talent development. Huawei has been operating in Nigeria since 1999, with multiple offices and training centers.

The company is involved in energy transformation, digital intelligence, technical talent development, and connectivity through the rollout of 3G, 4G, and 5G networks.
