Tinubu Declares Readiness for 2027 Presidential Election

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu announced his readiness to contest the 2027 presidential elections, aiming for a second term as Nigeria's leader. He expressed a commitment to addressing poverty and ensuring the survival of democracy in Nigeria.

During his declaration, Tinubu criticized opposition parties, suggesting they create distractions rather than contribute positively to governance. He emphasized the need for respect for judicial principles, even when rulings do not favor certain groups.

This announcement was made while meeting with the leadership of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Additionally, Tinubu's special adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, highlighted the political landscape, noting that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has shown interest in the 2027 presidential race without regard for Nigeria's power rotation arrangements.
