Bandit Leader Threatens to Kidnap Governor in Katsina

Kachalla Maha, a notorious bandit leader, issued a fresh threat against the government of Katsina State, claiming he could kidnap a governor due to his alleged access to confidential security intelligence. In an audio message that surfaced, Maha accused the authorities of refusing to release his associates and insisted that government actions were escalating violence in the region.

He warned that if his demands were not met, he would target residents and security personnel. Maha claimed that security forces were secretly providing him with sensitive information about military operations, raising serious concerns about potential intelligence leaks.

He emphasized that the ongoing banditry remains a significant threat despite military offensives. The statements come in the wake of the retirement of Major General Rabe Abubakar, a prominent Nigerian military officer, and highlight the deteriorating security situation in northwest Nigeria, where local communities continue to face persistent attacks from armed groups.
