Buratai Declines Responsibility for Naming Terror Financiers

Tukur Buratai, the former Chief of Army Staff of Nigeria, addressed the issue of naming terror financiers in the country, stating that he cannot take responsibility for such disclosures. He explained that the relevant government agencies are aware of the sources of terror financing and the reasons why names are not released.

Buratai emphasized that the responsibility lies with the government and the agencies tasked with this matter. He also mentioned that the Nigerian Army has its own responsibilities and that naming individuals involved in financing terror is not within their purview.

Furthermore, he referred to the military's approach to handling Boko Haram, noting that a rehabilitation initiative was introduced in 2016, which allowed for the surrender of militants under certain conditions, including a timeline for surrender and the provision of safe passage.
