Kunle Afolayan Faces ₦11m Monthly Diesel Costs

Kunle Afolayan, a prominent filmmaker, has raised concerns regarding the escalating cost of diesel, which has become a significant burden for his film production business. He disclosed that his operations at Kap Film Village Resort now incur a monthly diesel expense of ₦11 million, a situation that has intensified over the past four to five weeks.

Afolayan shared a video on Instagram detailing how the sharp rise in diesel prices has affected the smooth operation of his facilities. Despite having solar power installed, the business heavily relies on diesel for regular power supply.

The current price of diesel has surged to ₦1,500 per liter, exacerbating the financial strain on his operations. Afolayan also mentioned that payments for diesel are often delayed, sometimes taking up to two months to clear.

This situation has been worsened by the recent increase in the price of premium motor spirit (petrol) by Dangote Petroleum Refinery, which has seen multiple price adjustments within a week.
