Babachir Lawal Rejects Support for Peter Obi

Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, expressed in an interview that he cannot support Peter Obi because he did not receive personal favors, such as a bag of rice. Lawal emphasized that loyalty should not be to individuals but to broader national interests.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) despite recent political realignments involving major opposition figures. Lawal dismissed claims that Obi's recent political moves influenced his own direction, stating that Obi is not a credible presidential material for Nigeria.

He mentioned that there are several capable individuals who could lead effectively if given the opportunity. Lawal criticized Obi's political style, suggesting it leans towards consensus arrangements rather than open contests, and expressed doubts about Obi's commitment to the ADC coalition.

He also noted that the ADC aims to maintain fair internal democracy and build trust among its members.
