Arthur Okonkwo Excited for Super Eagles Debut

Arthur Okonkwo, a goalkeeper born in Camden to Nigerian parents, is eager for his potential debut with the Super Eagles following his international switch from England, approved by FIFA last month. Okonkwo has represented England at various youth levels, including the U-18 team, during his time at Arsenal FC.

His decision to switch allegiance came after a meeting with Super Eagles head coach Eric Chell during the Unity Cup tournament in June 2025. Okonkwo expressed his excitement about the opportunity to represent Nigeria, stating it would be an incredible honor.

He is currently part of Nigeria's goalkeeper depth chart, which includes Stanley Nwabali, Francis Uzoho, Maduka Okoye, and teenage star Ebenez Harcourt. Okonkwo has spent a loan spell at Crewe Alexandra and Sturm Graz before joining Wrexham AFC on an initial loan in the summer of 2023, which was made permanent a year later.

He has established himself as Wrexham's first-choice goalkeeper, making 121 appearances and contributing to two promotion seasons, with 44 matches played and 10 clean sheets.
