Saliu Mustapha Denies APC Senatorial Primary Participation

Saliu Mustapha, the senator representing Kwara Central, issued a statement on Monday, dismissing reports that he participated in the APC senatorial primary. He clarified that he neither contested nor withdrew from the exercise.

Mustapha, who chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture, confirmed he obtained the APC nomination form to contest for the governorship ticket in Kwara State for the upcoming 2027 general elections. He emphasized that at no point did he obtain a nomination form for the senatorial contest or participate in the screening process.

This clarification follows circulating reports that incorrectly included his name among aspirants for the senatorial primary, alongside Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. Mustapha's camp stated that he remains focused on the APC governorship primary scheduled for May 21, 2026, and urged party members to conduct themselves peacefully during the exercise.

He expressed optimism about emerging as a worthy candidate for the APC governorship ticket.
