Obi Mikel Questions Land Promise After AFCON Victory

John Obi Mikel, a former Chelsea midfielder and captain of the Super Eagles, commented on the Nigerian government's unfulfilled promise of a plot of land to the team following their victory in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The promise was made by former President Goodluck Jonathan during the team's celebration in South Africa.

Mikel, speaking on a podcast hosted by Peter Crouch, expressed his uncertainty about the land offer, stating, "I don’t think I know mine." He noted that the promise included a massive plot of land, but he has yet to receive any details or confirmation regarding it. Mikel, who had an 18-year professional football career before retiring in 2022 at the age of 35, won numerous trophies with Chelsea, including the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League.
