Peter Obi Joins NDC, Cites Urgent Need for Change

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Labour Party, officially announced his switch from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday. He explained that this decision was necessitated by the current state of Nigeria, which is facing various compounded crises requiring urgent action.

Obi's move was made alongside his close political ally, former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as part of a strategy to sustain momentum for a "new Nigeria" focused on accountability and genuine concern for the common citizen. He noted challenges within the ADC, including internal conflicts that hindered effective participation in the electoral process.

Obi expressed gratitude towards the leadership he left behind, particularly thanking ADC chairman David Mark and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. He cautioned against the dangers of unresolved legal battles within political parties, which could undermine democracy and burden ordinary citizens.

Obi called on Nigerians, especially women and youth, to remain resilient amid hardships.
