FCT Police Install Air Conditioners in Detention Cells

Ahmad Sanusi, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), disclosed during a press briefing in Abuja that the FCT Police Command has begun installing air conditioners in detention facilities. This initiative aims to ensure humane treatment of suspects, as Sanusi emphasized that individuals in police custody deserve dignity and should be treated humanely, regardless of the crimes they are accused of.

He stated that arrest does not equate to condemnation, and suspects should be treated well until a court decides their fate. Sanusi expressed that providing the best treatment to suspects could foster goodwill, encouraging them to speak positively about the police upon their release.

Additionally, he warned individuals involved in manhole vandalism that they would not be treated as ordinary thieves, indicating a stricter approach to such crimes. Sanusi was appointed as the 35th Commissioner of Police for the FCT on a Tuesday.
