Sowore Critiques Coalition with ADC, Calls for Reforms

Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist and former presidential candidate, addressed the potential coalition with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai during a television interview on New Central. He discussed the necessity for electoral reforms to ensure transparency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sowore, who is currently a leader in the opposition in Central Nigeria, expressed concerns regarding the political landscape, particularly criticizing figures such as Babachir Lawal, El-Rufai, and Abubakar Malami for their roles in the country's recent political and economic challenges. He highlighted the importance of building a credible opposition rather than recycling old leadership figures.

Sowore warned that the emerging coalition risks becoming a platform for established power blocs seeking relevance in the upcoming electoral cycle. He stressed that electoral reform must extend beyond campaign promises to strengthen institutions and voter confidence in the electoral process.
