Iyabo Obasanjo Resigns from APC, Joins PDP Amid Discontent

Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, announced her resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to her dissatisfaction with the party's failure to uphold promises related to a consensus candidate for Ogun State. She expressed her feelings of disrespect and betrayal by the party's leadership.

Following her resignation, which took place on January 31, 2026, Iyabo Obasanjo officially joined the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday. She returned to active politics after a 15-year hiatus and had previously declared her intention to run for governor.

However, she cited unfair treatment and loss of the governorship ticket as reasons for her departure from the APC.
