ADC's Nafiu Bala Denies Support for David Mark's Leadership

Nafiu Bala, the acting national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), publicly denied backing David Mark's emergence as the interim leader of the party, stating he was misled about the nature of the event he attended. Bala explained that he attended the gathering under the impression it was to welcome new coalition members, not to endorse a leadership change.

He criticized former party chairman Ralph Nwosu for orchestrating the leadership transition without proper consultation, expressing surprise at the developments. Bala, who served as deputy national chairman, claimed he had no prior knowledge of the plans to hand over leadership to Mark.

He also indicated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had been informed of his resignation from his previous role. Bala described the situation as part of a broader deception surrounding the party's leadership crisis, which has led to multiple factions within the ADC, raising concerns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
