Iyabo Obasanjo Campaigns for Ogun Governorship in 2027

Iyabo Obasanjo, a former senator representing Ogun Central, is actively campaigning for the governorship of Ogun State in the 2027 elections. On Wednesday, she held a meeting in Abeokuta with women’s organizations and labor leaders, pledging to ensure credible and inclusive governance.

The event took place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, where she addressed representatives from various professional women’s associations, artisans, and civil society groups. Iyabo Obasanjo emphasized the need for consistent policies and programs to sustain development in Ogun State, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, and education.

She expressed her commitment to prioritizing women, youth, and vulnerable groups, asserting that her administration would operate transparently and accountably. Iyabo Obasanjo, who previously served as Ogun State Commissioner for Health and represented Ogun Central in the Senate from 2007 to 2011, is determined to contest the governorship race under the Progressive Congress, building on her father's legacy and the current administration's industrialization efforts.
