Iyabo Obasanjo Confident of APC Governorship Ticket for 2027

Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has expressed confidence in obtaining the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket for Ogun State in the upcoming 2027 general elections. During her visit to the APC national headquarters in Abuja, she acknowledged her absence from active politics for several years but decided to enter the race due to requests from the people of Ogun State.

Iyabo is optimistic about her nomination and believes she will successfully govern Ogun State, enhancing its status within the nation. She highlighted the importance of women's representation in politics, advocating for a reserved seat bill to support female candidates, referencing the success of such initiatives in East Africa, particularly Rwanda.

Iyabo noted that her father, though not involved in her political movement, would support her during the elections, emphasizing the need for more female governors in Nigeria.
