Bello El-Rufai Affirms Loyalty to APC Amid Defection Talks

Bello El-Rufai, the son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed that he will never publicly oppose the current governor, Uba Sani, amidst discussions about possibly leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. Bello made this known in response to social media users urging him to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He clarified that his political decisions are not influenced by online pressure and highlighted his electoral victory in the Kaduna North constituency, where he received 51,052 votes. Bello reaffirmed his loyalty to the Kaduna State administration led by Governor Sani, whom he referred to as his boss, and criticized any notion of disloyalty.

He recently attended a public event with his father and participated in a Kaduna APC caucus meeting alongside the Speaker of the House, indicating his intent to remain within the APC while also seeking opportunities for collaboration with senior public officials, including Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Olayemi Cardoso.
