Baba-Ahmed Affirms Fairness in Politics Ahead of 2027

Datti Baba-Ahmed, the 2023 vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, clarified his political stance ahead of the 2027 general elections, stating he will not disadvantage President Bola Tinubu to promote Peter Obi or Atiku Abubakar. Baba-Ahmed emphasized that fairness is essential in politics, declaring, “I will not disadvantage Uncle [Tinubu].” He maintained that his relationship with Obi remains strong despite expressing disappointment over Obi’s recent political moves.

Baba-Ahmed denied rumors of a political rift, asserting, “He didn’t drop me.” He recounted a conversation from January 31, 2024, where he urged Obi to have a political plan. Baba-Ahmed also explained that his comments about the current opposition leaders’ inability to fix Nigeria were meant to ensure fairness in the political landscape, identifying the Tinubu-Shettima and Atiku tickets as key opponents.
