Obi Declares Four-Year Presidential Term Limit in Interview

Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, declared in an interview with New Central TV on Wednesday that he would not remain in office for more than four years, even under duress. He emphasized the importance of a single four-year term to focus on stabilizing Nigeria and addressing urgent national issues.

Obi criticized the current economic situation, claiming that the level of borrowing by the present administration has exceeded that of previous governments. He argued that Nigeria's condition has worsened in terms of economy and security, attributing the decline to poor leadership.

Obi questioned the lack of immediate action regarding insecurity, citing the ongoing violence in Nigeria, particularly in Benue, while leaders remain distant in Abuja. He called for leaders to visit troubled areas to understand the situation firsthand and provide practical solutions rather than remaining disconnected from the realities affecting citizens.
