APC Criticizes Governor Makinde for Inciting Remarks

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for his comments made during an opposition summit in Ibadan on a recent Saturday. The APC described Makinde's remarks as reckless and inciting violence, referencing his warning against the consolidation of legislative power by a single party.

They recalled historical violence in Nigeria's western region, particularly in Ibadan during the mid-1960s, suggesting that Makinde's comments could trigger similar unrest. The APC issued a statement through its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, expressing deep concern over the governor's words, which they believe could lead to anarchy and widespread lawlessness.

They emphasized that Makinde is unworthy of the high office he occupies and called on security and intelligence agencies to take action, stressing that constitutional immunity does not protect public officials from accountability for statements that threaten national security.
